Alyssa N. Chojnacki is an attorney in Meissner Tierney’s litigation practice group. She represents insurers and their insureds in various matters, including general liability and insurance coverage issues.
Where are you from?
Lake Orion, MI
What was your first job?
Summer Camp Counselor
What are your hobbies?
Running, hiking, and anything else that gets me outside. I also enjoy reading, watching reality tv, and spending as much time as possible with other people’s dogs as possible until I can get my own.
What is something on your bucket list?
I really would love to visit Alaska.
Why did you become an attorney?
I did not grow up around lawyers or in a community where lawyers were present. Growing up, my only exposure to attorneys was what I viewed on Law & Order SVU, and no part of me wanted to do that. Once I got to college and started learning more about what lawyers do outside of the criminal system, I became much more interested in the possibility of becoming a lawyer and decided to give it a shot.
What does a typical workday look like for you?
While no workday looks the same, I do have a typical routine. I generally prefer to do smaller tasks and follow-ups in the morning, saving the afternoon to work on bigger projects, such as a large document production or brief.
Why did you choose your areas of practice?
I always wanted a job where I would never be bored. The fast pace and continually changing nature of litigation certainly ensures there is never a dull moment.
What is your biggest achievement, professional or personal?
My greatest achievements are the relationships that I have with my loved ones. I am very close with my parents, and my twin sister, Lauren, is my best friend. I am also proud to be marrying my fiancé, Steve, in one month – he is just about the coolest person I have ever met. Outside of that I am a proud alumna of the University of Michigan – Go Blue!
What activities do you participate in outside of the firm (professional)?
)? I am a member of Wisconsin Defense Counsel (WDC).
What is your favorite thing about MTFN?
My favorite thing about MTFN is the people I work with. Not only are they great lawyers, paralegals, etc, but they are kind and friendly people. That is something that I do not take for granted.
What has been the most impactful advice you have received about practicing law?
