Attorney Randy Brotherhood appeared before the Wisconsin Supreme Court on February 16, 2017, in his capacity as Chair of the Business Law Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin, in support of a Petition for the Court to adopt rules that would establish a pilot program to create a dedicated trial court judicial docket for large business and commercial cases in Wisconsin. The Petition had been submitted by the Business Court Advisory Committee, convened by Chief Justice Patience Drake Roggensack for the purpose of exploring and structuring this pilot program. Randy appeared at a hearing on the Petition, together with the Chair of the Business Courts Advisory Committee and several members of the Committee, to support the Petition.
The Court approved the Petition by a 5-2 vote, thereby establishing the pilot program, which will establish dedicated large case business and commercial dockets in Waukesha County and the Eighth Judicial District for a three-year period. The operation of business and commercial dockets in these jurisdictions will be monitored and evaluated during this period, with a view toward determining whether to establish such business and commercial dockets statewide, upon the expiration of the pilot program.
